The Rings of Power in Tolkien’s Silmarillion & Onscreen
Devoted fans and Tolkien newcomers alike will enjoy this accessible exploration of human nature, good and evil, and the dangers of power in Tolkien's backdrop to The Lord of the Rings.
Reading will focus on the 20-page section, "The Rings of Power and the Third Age" in The Silmarillion. Attendees are encouraged to also watch Seasons 1 and 2 of Amazon Prime's The Rings of Power.
Clips will be viewed during our discussion as we consider both similarities and differences between Tolkien's original work and this contemporary made-for-television adaptation.
Hildegard's Great Work Seminars are open to all ages, backgrounds, and education levels. Read a book we mail to you in advance, then join our community for a spirited evening of discussion, food, and fellowship.
Prospective students and their families are encouraged to attend these seminars as an introduction to Hildegard's campus, community, and educational model. Email admissions@hildegard.college for a one-time FREE access code!
